Curved magnums are similar to standard magnums, except there is a centered arc in the grouping. The outermost needles of a curved magnum configuration are positioned higher than the center needles, so they don’t penetrate as deeply into the skin. This gives your ink a steep angle, making curved magnums a great choice for creating smooth gradients. Additionally, curved magnums run along your client’s skin less aggressively for a smoother overall effect, causing less trauma. Use them for softer shading work. Also, be sure to use a combination of curved and standard magnums for even, textured results.
