Fusion Ink has long been a favorite among tattoo artists worldwide. Known for its vibrant pigmentation and smooth consistency, this ink became a staple in the industry for both tattooing and creative illustration. However, due to changes in REACH regulations in the European Union, Fusion Ink is no longer legally permitted for use as a tattoo ink.
But that doesn’t mean Fusion Ink has disappeared from studios. In fact, its powerful colors and ease of use still make it one of the best options for flash painting and other artistic projects.
Why Fusion Ink Was So Popular
Fusion Ink earned its place in tattoo studios because of its bold pigments, reliable saturation, and wide color range. Artists appreciated how easily it blended on the skin and how true the colors healed over time. Many tattooists also used Fusion Ink for creating tattoo flash sheets because of its intensity and smooth application on paper.
What Changed with REACH Regulations?
Since January 2022, the European Union’s REACH regulation (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals) has restricted thousands of chemical substances previously used in tattoo inks. While these laws were designed to protect clients’ health, many beloved ink brands, including Fusion Ink, could no longer be used legally for tattooing in the EU.
This was a huge shift for artists, but it doesn’t mean Fusion Ink is obsolete.
Fusion Ink for Flash Painting
Artists can continue using Fusion Ink for flash painting and other illustration projects on paper, canvas, or other non-human surfaces. This allows tattooists to maintain the vibrancy of their traditional style in their artwork, even if they’re no longer using Fusion Ink in tattoos.
Advantages of using Fusion Ink for flash painting:
By repurposing your Fusion Ink for flash painting, you keep your studio stocked with high-quality materials while respecting REACH regulations.
